Since the Corona Virus 2019 or Covid-19 has become a pandemic, life of all population all over the world has been affected. COERR Mae Hong Son, Mae Sarieng, Mae Sod and Kanchanaburi, having great concern about the displaced persons especially the children who live with their parents and grandparents who are likely to be at risk of COVID-19, have organized the “COVID-19 Prevention and Awareness” program, to convey knowledge and understandings of children and families including teachers and the community, about basic healthcare and important COVID-19 preventive measures such as avoiding crowded areas and those at risk of COVID-19 infection, eating cooked food, wearing masks, washing hands, and having children paint their creative idea about good hygiene and self-care.
Throughout May 2021, several activities of COVID-19 Prevention and Awareness were organized in COERR’s Child Friendly Spaces in most temporary Shelters.
- on May 15, activities were conducted at Ban Mai Nai Soi Temporary Shelter of Mae Hong Son Province’s Muang District, in which 27 children of 20 girls and 7 boys participated;
- on May 27 and 28, at Ban Mae Surin in Mae Hong Son’s Khun Yuam District, with 43 children of 29 girls and 14 boys attended;
- on May 3 at Ban Mae La Oon in Mae Hong Son’s Sob Moei District, with 55 participants of 30 girls and 25 boys;
- on May 17 at Ban Umpiem in Tak Province’s Phop Phra District, with 30 participants of 16 girls and 14 boys; and at Ban Nupo in Tak Province’s Umphang District with 55 participants of 43 girls and 12 boys.
COERR also distributed 600 coloring books for children in Ban Tham Hin Temporary Shelter in Ratchaburi Province’s Suan Phueng District to practice and make their colorful paintings during school break.
